Rhinoceros is giant compared to his fellow creatures from the air and water. He wishes he was free, like the tiny bird that sits on his back but can be carried by the wind. His friends assure him he is needed for them to rest on, to land on. When a strong storm blows the bird away, there Rhinoceros is, as strong as a mountain. Janisch’s poetic text and Bansch’s detailed and expressive illustrations tell a gentle story of friendship.
