Wallmark tells the extraordinary life story of Sophie Kowalevski. Her childhood fascination with mathematics led her to earn a doctorate in math during late 19th century when few universities would grant any woman a degree. Nayberg’s sepia-toned illustrations capture the atmosphere of Sophie’s world. Sophie Kowalevski became the first woman to become a full professor at a Northern European university, truly becoming “Queen of Mathematics”.
