Children’s book author Margaret Wise Brown no doubt would have approved of Barnett’s unconventional use of 42 pages (industry standard is 32 for a picture book). In this biography of an unconventional woman, Jacoby’s gentle illustrations perfectly capture Brown’s original personality. In highlighting both her talents and eccentricities, Barnett concludes: “The most important thing about Margaret Wise Brown is that she wrote books.”
